How do I enable s2s conversion tracking?

To track the conversions and the revenue generated by them directly in our platform you must do the following 3 steps for all campaigns and ads you wish to track:

1. Attach a tracker to your campaign

2. Insert our {transactionId} macro in the Media URL of the ads

3. Set up our Postback URL in your system with your substitution macro.

1. Attaching a tracker to your campaign.

To attach a tracker you need to create one first. To create a tracker expand the account menu by clicking on the advertiser name on the left sidebar. You only need to do this step once as you can track all campaigns with the same tracker.

Once you have created a tracker you must attach it to the campaign you wish to track. Forgetting to do this will mean that the conversions generated by this campaign will not be tracked.

2. Inserting our {transactionId} macro in the Media URL of the ads.

Once you have created and attached the tracker you must remember to add our transaction ID substitution macro {transactionId} to the Media URL in every Ad of every campaign you wish to track. Forgetting to do this will mean that the conversions generated by this campaign will not be tracked.

Depending on your tracking platform or internal system you will need to receive the transaction ID in a different parameter, in order for your system to store it and send it back to us when a conversion happen. Speak to somebody from your tech department or the support team of your tracking platform to find out what parameter should be used for this.

In the following example the transaction_id parameter (highlighted in green) will receive a transaction ID generated by the substitution macro, highlighted in blue, when we send you traffic.

3. Setting up our Postback URL in your system with your substitution macro.

Set up the Postback URL found in the tracker, in your system, so that it will pass back the transaction ID in our &id= parameter and our system we will tie the conversion with the ad impression that generated it.

http://pas.adrotate.se?e=4&tid=tracker_id&id=INSERT_TRANSACTION_ID

The url and parameters in the link, (highlighted in blue) should not be changed, while the substitution macro, (highlighter in green) MUST be changed to the correct substitution macro used in your system for this purpose.

Speak to somebody from your tech department or the support team of your tracking platform to find out how to implement an external Postback URL and what substitution macro is to be used to pass back our transaction ID.

A transaction ID looks something like this: cf6993e0-560b-11e5-81a1-6575371e5ce6

Any modification or addition will make the transaction unintelligible for our system and the conversion will not be registered so it is important that nothing else is passed but the actual transaction Id that we sent with the impression.

Global Postback

One s2s tracker is generally enough for most advertisers' needs across several campaigns but multiple trackers can be attached to a single campaign in order to separately track different events that can be tied to one single impressions like for example a registration and a sale.

Depending on your system you should be able to set up a single Postback URL for all campaigns but in some unfortunate case you might need to do it for every single campaign.

Conversion Value

Even though it is not mandatory, a conversion value can be added to the campaign together with the tracker.

The conversion value, as it was at the time of the conversion, will be added to the revenue.

You also have the possibility to send a conversion value together with the conversion postback by adding &cv={amount} to the URL, where in place of {amount} you will have the actual amount in dollars.

In case both a conversion value is set in the campaign and one is passed with the postback, the one in the postback will be final.
